Home / School News / WWII Veteran Visits Seventh Grade

Mr. Bill Henson, a World War II veteran, visited the seventh grade to speak about his time in service. Mr. Henson began serving his country upon graduation from high school and served as a medic in the Pacific theater during the war. He shared about lessons learned, friendships made, and incredible experiences, including the time he gave a typhoid shot to “Tokyo Rose.” According to Henson, when he looks back on his life, he sees that it was laid out with a purpose – from his time in the armed forces, to serving as a pastor in the community, to raising a strong family. When asked what his advice for young people today might be, Mr. Henson emphasized the importance of education. He told students to work hard in school and gain as much knowledge as possible.
