PI Day 3.14.15 Celebration (3.13.15)

EPIC EVENT THIS YEAR:  On 3.14 at 9:26:53 a.m., the exact time will be equivalent to the first 9 decimal digits of pi!!! EVERYONE should memorize at least those and be prepared for an exciting PI DAY at BMS!! (Bummer, we will have to celebrate Friday, the 13^th, since the 14^th is a Saturday, but you should set your alarm early Saturday!)

v  Akira Haraguchi (原口證 Haraguchi Akira^?) (born 1946), a retired Japanese engineer, currently working as a mental health counselor and business consultant in Mobara City, is known for memorizing and reciting digits of pi.

He set the current world record (100,000 digits) in 16 hours, starting at 9 a.m (16:28 GMT) on October 3, 2006 and having recited up to 83,431 digits by nightfall, stopping with digit number 100,000 at 1:28 a.m. on October 4, 2006.

v  Middle School record:  Last March, Amanda Pollock, who attends Homer Jr. High in Homer Glen, IL, set the school record reciting the most numbers of Pi – 605. Amanda prepared for about a month and exceeded her goal of 600 digits and had 605 correct digits of pi, making a new school record.
