We provide regular updates to you about your student’s academic progress by sending home a student report card. Once a year we also provide you with updates on our school’s achievements through the North Carolina School Report Card. The North Carolina School Report Card includes important information about our school’s student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources and teacher quality. There is information about how our school measured against federal Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs).
Each school receives a letter grade to describe academic performance. These school letter grades are comprised of student performance (80 percent) and academic growth (20 percent). I have enclosed a summary of our School Report Card called the Report Card Snapshot. Our school’s full Report Card can be found on the NC School Report Card website at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/src/. Report data is available for our school district and for the state’s education system as a whole. School Report Cards are provided for regular public schools, charter schools, and alternative schools that were open during the 2016-17 school year.
The letter grades only tell part of the story. At our school we are proud of all our hardworking students and dedicated teachers. We also take great pride in the wide variety of extracurricular opportunities that we have available for students to participate in. BMS offers students the chance to be part of teams like Science Olympiad, Art Club, BETA Club, Sportsman Club, FFA, athletic teams, afterschool Band /Chorus events, and Battle of the Books. We also offer Math I and English I where high performing students have the opportunity to earn high school credits before they even leave middle school! Across the state of North Carolina, there are 414 middle schools (grades 6-8); Bethel Middle School ranks in the top 17% for academic performance. This data indicates that we out performed 346 of the other middle schools in our state, and we are extremely honored to have attained that accomplishment.
We are committed to providing parents and the community with important information about our school. Well-informed and engaged parents enhance the learning of their children and contribute to a positive learning environment. In addition, the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires schools to issue School Report Cards.
At Bethel Middle School your support is very important to our success. Please review our School Report Card carefully and feel free to contact us directly to discuss any questions about the School Report Card. We also welcome your feedback regarding other school matters.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to provide your child with a high-quality education.
